Wedding cakes can’t be missed at any Czech wedding. It is tiny yeast cakes stuffed with various fillings. Along with the announcement and invitation to the wedding are distributed to relatives, friends and neighbours – it is baked two to three weeks before the wedding. A second batch of cookies, which serves as entertainment and decoration at the wedding itself, is baked for about two days before the wedding.
With wedding cakes is linked to a lot of traditions and superstitions. Cupcakes may not bake a bride herself because it supposedly brings bad luck in marriage and tearful children. Further, for example – a woman who eats cake that was baked in a corner of the sheet, she married in a year and a day.
for 15-20 person, cca 200 pieces, preparation time 1.5 – 2 hours
- 4 egg yolks
- 250 g 100% Fat
- 30 g caster sugar
- 250 g butter
- 0.25 liters of milk
- 800 g plain flour
- 70 g yeast
- 0.5 tablespoon salt
- to coat – 100 g of vanilla sugar
- 500 g powdered sugar
- to smear – 0.25 liters of rum
- 250 g butter
Put into lukewarm milk sugar and yeast, stir and allow to rise. Meanwhile, put the flour on the counter, into which stir the salt. Make a hole into which the grate fat and add the egg yolks. When yeast rise about half, pour it on all the other ingredients and knead thoroughly by hand. Immediately after the drawing, roll out dough, cut it into small squares, fill to taste (mostly cheese, poppy seeds, nuts, jam) and wrap. Wedding cakes put on a greased baking sheet next to each other. Bake at 180 ° C for about 20 minutes. After removing the cakes from the oven immediately really rub rum mixed with butter. Then let them cool slightly and then gently coat in sugar.
