Báč
Báč is leavened potato pie. It originated in the area around the town Klatovy and Pilsen, which is in western Bohemia. It can be served either alone, or with a mushroom sauce or sauerkraut.
Ingredients:
- 1 kg potatoes
- 3 onions
- 3 garlic cloves
- lard
- ½ litre of milk
- 40 g fresh yeast
- 3 eggs
- 250 g flour
- salt
- pepper
- dried marjoram
Preparation process:
Peel the potatoes and grate then. Then squeeze them out of the water. Chopped onion and garlic fry in lard. Into warm milk crumble the yeast. In a bowl put flour, potatoes, eggs, salt and pepper. Pour the milk with yeast and add onions and garlic from the pan. Flavour with marjoram. Grease the pan with lard and pour the batter into it. Leave the dough to rest for 30 minutes. Then put in the oven and bake for 40 minutes at 190 degrees.
